The British government is set to progress with utilizing the total value of immobilized Russia's assets to bolster the Ukrainian defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They added that the move would be implemented in strong partnership with the US.

British sanctions have frozen more than £25bn of Russian resources since Russia launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. However, previously, resources provided to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had exclusively been sourced from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were united in their aim to drive progress toward employing the total worth of the immobilized Moscow's national funds to conclude the conflict.

He noted that additional restrictions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This statement follows EU leaders gathered in Copenhagen last week to discuss utilizing frozen Russian funds for a €140 billion credit to Ukraine.
