The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“It has a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced after a major charity concert held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of artists contributing to Lullaby encompasses a group of well-known figures from the music world. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a group of producers and composers. The track features a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative explained. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a few million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all making this cause better known and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The song is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
