The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track
The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series from the beloved role-playing group, revealed a new opening credits. It features our favorite group of outcasts, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for characters such as the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, Fjord.
All in all, the intro appears amazing. However, I felt that something was missing in the music selection.
This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the official score of the same name, the second one put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its inclusion.
Personally, The Mighty Nein's opening fails to capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the show's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.
Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and fun. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.
The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's a grand composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its tone is a little off.
Of course, Critical Role has already said that the series will have some surprises and differences from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro seems to be among these.
This animated adventure will be available to watch on Prime Video from November 19. For those eager until then, or wish to prepare to get to know the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on Spotify and YouTube.
