Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was blessed to avoid just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
