Followers Call for Detainment of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are calling for that a man who breached a barrier and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral video depicts the Australian man bypassing camera operators and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "released after being arrested", though legal records showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram profile contains clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last winter.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many fans criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote one more response on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of attendees had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore venue, including several who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the sequel of a two-film version of the well-known theatrical production Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two distinct characters.
The production itself is a spin-off of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of the previous year in the UK, and received ten award recognitions, winning two for best costume and production design.
