Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
